Field Notes is not a blog in the usual sense. It will not publish on a schedule, and it will not cover topics designed to improve search rankings. What it will carry are pieces that come out of actual work on the Indian River Lagoon — the kind of specific, grounded writing that is only possible after twenty years on one waterway.
That means: a real account of what an FDEP seagrass survey involves and when it is required. A plain-language explanation of the difference between a standard ERP and an Individual Permit, and what triggers each. A piece on why the material choice for a dock in the Indian River Lagoon Aquatic Preserve is different from the choice for a dock on open water. A detailed walkthrough of a hurricane-season inspection and what to look for before the insurance claim.
